Sculptures

My sculpture explores the relationship between material, space and the body, often bringing together industrial, functional and luxurious materials such as felt, velvet, satin, ribbon, rope, cable, latex and steel. I am interested in the tension between these materials and in what happens when they are displaced from their usual function, taking on associations of vulnerability, desire, control, protection or excess.

Line is central to the work. It can bind, connect, divide, suspend or trace a path through space, creating and blurring boundaries between objects, bodies and their surroundings. Sculpture becomes a way of testing how physical and psychological boundaries are formed, crossed or disrupted.

The work often develops through repetition, accumulation and changes in scale, allowing familiar materials and objects to become unstable or uncertain. Playfulness sits alongside unease, and works that appear to invite interaction can resist or disrupt it. Through these shifts, the sculptures explore how people negotiate systems, constraints and relationships, particularly at the point where order begins to break down.
